Class of 2010 Scholarship News
It is my pleasure to announce that Fran Givnish has been awarded a partial scholarship to Roman Catholic High School
and Matthew Wetzel has been awarded a partial scholarship to West Catholic High School.
Fran is keeping his options open since he received word that he is also a finalist for a Msgr. Bonner scholarship.
Matthew has declined his award and will attend Roman Catholic High School.
Based on good performance on the scholarship test Msgr. Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast High School has named
the following students as semi-finalists for scholarships:
Micaela Beaty, Maeve Callahan, Fran Givnish, Matt Hughes, Sean Hughes,
Meghan MacDonald, Chris Nichols, Maggie Quigley, and Michael Yuknek.
These nine students must submit an essay, a letter of recommendation, and interview with school officials
before awards will be announced. I am confident that all shall go well with the process.
Audrey Cooney, Clarissa Cooney and Mariah Quinn have been awarded
partial, academic scholarships to Merion Mercy Academy. The achievement and effort of all three of these young
women have been well recognized. Maggie Quigley is a contender for a Merion Mercy Alumnae Award.
In addition to the Merion Mercy Scholarships, Audrey and Clarissa were offered scholarships to the Academy of Notre Dame.
The Audrey, Clarissa and Mariah will attend Merion Mercy Academy.
Nine Saint Andrew School eighth graders qualified to sit for the Neumann Scholarship examination on January 23rd.
Six students have accepted the invitation.
They are Justin Domenico, Matthew Hughes, Sean Hughes,
Meghan MacDonald, Matthew Wetzel and Michael Yuknek.
To qualify, a student must have a total battery score of 90% or above on the Terra Nova test or a CSI of 120.
In addition to the Terra Nova scores the student must have a general average of a 92 in the first trimester of 8th grade.
We congratulate our students who have earned this status. Know that the Saint Andrew School community will pray
that all goes well on the test day.

RESPECT PROGRAM WINNERS:
Each month the children in the Lower School focus on a particular quality and try to incorporate that into their everyday lives. For September the focus was Courtesy; greeting teachers and others by name, looking people in the eye when you are talking to them, and of course those all important phrases, please, thank you and excuse me. These are the students who have shown us all what it is like to be courteous.

During October and November the challenge became Lunchroom Etiquette. Not only were the proper ways of coming into the lunchroom, opening lunches, laying out the napkin and waiting fro prayers reinforced each day, but we now have a new word to add to our vocabulary lists-Etiquette. Maybe someday Saint Andrew lunchroom will turn into a five star restaurant and the following students will be our hosts.
